MARTIN NISSAN WINS AAA CHAMPIONSHIP

Martin Nissan 23 - Dick's Sporting Goods 6: Bouncing back from a tough, one-run loss on Friday, Martin Nissan revved up the turbo jets and propelled themselves to a 23-6 victory over the Lobos of Dick's Sporting Goods.  The win earned Martin Nissan the Skokie Indians Little League AAA Championship.  It was a complete team effort with great pitching, good defense and a turbo-charged offense. MN shifted into scoring drive with 2 out rallies in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd innings. In the 1st, Ethan “Little E” Lee drove in 2 runs with a double. In the 2nd, Dillon “Cobra” Leopoldo and Jimmy Fraus combined to drive in 3 runs. In the 3rd, Teagan Cabral smacked a triple to drive in 3 runs, Dillon “Cobra” Leopoldo had an RBI double and Corey Schmidt ripped a 2-RBI triple. In the 4th, Corey Schmidt whacked a bases-loaded double for 3 more RBI. Dick’s Sporting Goods got on the board in the 4th inning when Diego Acosta hit a double and scored on a single by Alec Esteban. Ryan Kuchii drove in the 2nd run. In the 5th, MN’s Dillon “Cobra” Leopoldo drove in 2 more runs with a double and Ethan “Little E” Lee had an RBI single. Dick’s scored 4 runs with singles by Sam Naparstak, Nick Nett, Diego Acosta, Andy Ray and Robby Sonnier. In the 6th, both teams were held scoreless. MN’s starting pitcher Dillon “Cobra” Leopoldo pitched three innings of one-hit, shutout baseball. Corey Schmidt pitched two innings and Conor Murphy closed it out with a scoreless 6th. Pitching for Dick’s were Robby Sonnier, Diego Acosta, Don Martin and Nick Nett.
