Dick's Sporting Goods 6 - Martin Nissan 5: The Lobos forced a second championship game against Martin Nissan by way of a dramatic, sixth-inning comeback. Trailing 5-3, the Lobos of Dick's Sporting Goods scratched across three runs in the sixth inning to sneak by Martin Nissan. In the double-elimination playoffs, Martin Nissan had made the championship bracket without a loss, while the Lobos had one loss. Therefore, for the Lobos to become champions, they have to beat MN twice. They took their first step Friday evening, but it wasn't easy. MN came out swinging the bats and playing good defense. Dillon "Cobra" Leopoldo shut down the Lobos' attack, pitching three strong innings. Dillon also had a two-bagger to pace MN's offense, along with Sam Bogan, who pumped out 2 doubles. Conor Murphy followed Dillon on the hill and continued the strong pitching outing. Corey Schmidt came on for MN to pitch the fifth and sixth innings, but those pesky Lobos put together enough hits to score three runs. For the Lobos, Robby Sonnier, Don Martin and Diego Acosta pitched, with Diego playing an important role in holding MN scoreless over the late innings to keep the Lobos in it. An excellent, exciting game. Catch the AAA Championship game between Martin Nissan and Dick's Sporting Goods on Monday, June 29 at Terminal Park. |

New York Bagel & Bialy 5 - Hub's Gyros 3: Taking their tool of trade into the game, NYBB roller pinned one run in the 1st, which held up until 2 runs were plated by Hub's in the top of the fourth. A furious 4-run rally punctuated by excellent hustle to 1st base by the light-hitting Bagels made it 5-2 after 4 innings. A scoreless 5th was followed by a two-out run in the sixth for Hub's to reach the 5-3 final. Hub's Jack O'Malley did a good job of holding the Bagels in check for 3 innings. He also tatooed a ball for a triple. Christian Shoshoo followed him up and was victimized by some so-so fielding and some great hustle on the part of the Bagels. Will Downie closed out the fifth for Hub's. The Dough Boys were led by Lucas Saliba, who threw 3 shutout innings, including a 9-pitch, 3 K effort in the third. Lucas also had a two-bagger for the Dough Boys. Jonathon Lakhani was tagged for all three runs by Hub's in his 3 innings, but all were the result of some spotty defense. |

Dick's Sporting Goods 6 - New York Bagel & Bialy 5: The Lobos (Dick's Sporting Goods) looked to be headed for the dog pound as the top of the 6th inning wound down with NY B&B ahead by three. Samuel "The Professor" Noparstak then stepped up to the platter with Jacob now on second and Chris Guolee on first. Charie O'Kane dealt a nice change-up on a full count, but the sharp eye of the Professor picked it up as soon as it left Charlie's hand. Swing from the heels, the Professor pounded a walk-off double bringing home Hanou and the winning run. Diego Acosta also had a double for the Lobos.
