About The Saturday Labs
Saturday Labs are a way for SVCUG members to get their hands on Cisco
equipment free of charge. We make a large assortment of Cisco gear
available for your use.
Please note that Saturday Labs are not instructor-led labs. Think of the Saturday Labs as if it were a library. We provide:
- A place to study and learn
- Resources to help you learn (Cisco equipment and books)
- A place to meet others with similar interests or certification goals
However, this does not mean that you
can not organize a Saturday Lab for a particular networking learning
scenario. Feel free to use our mailing list to communicate the lab
scenario or learning challenge you are interested in a few days before
the Saturday Lab and you just might find yourself with learning
partners.

What Should I Bring To The Lab?
- All you need is a personal laptop (wireless access is a plus). We provide the rest.
SVCUG Lab Equipment
As previously stated, we have LOTS of equipment for your use. All the
equipment used to be loose (in racks but in no particular
configuration), but the SVCUG members took the initiative to take most
of the equipment and build CCNA, CCNP and CCIE racks.

equipment click on the following link: SVCUG Lab
Other Lab Activities
As stated before, Saturday Labs are a way for SVCUG members to get their hands on Cisco equipment free of charge.
However, SVCUG Staff and Members are finding new ways to have fun learning and growing. Here are some of the
programs we are kicking off:
- Preparing for a Cisco certification? Is your test just weeks/days away? Are you feeling the HEAT?
- If so, the SVCUG Hot Seat is an oportunity for SVCUG members to put their knowledge to the test!
- When SVCUG members sign up, we schedule an SVCUG Hot Seat session where you are armed
- with a white board, an erasable marker, your brain and a box of tissues (for the tears).
- From there, fellow SVCUG members proceed to ask you networking questions to help test your
- knowledge and help you prepare for you test.
- Understandably, people tend to shy away from the spotlight. However, putting yourself on the
- spot, helps you prepare. And preparation, helps you pass exams. So don't be shy - sign up to
- be the next victim ... err ... participant in the SVCUG Hot Seat!
- How do you sign up?
- Simply send me an email (Dan) indicating that you would like to sign up and we'll
- select a date and announce it to the SVCUG members.
- Interested in REALLY learning a technology topic? If so, there is no better way than teaching it!
- Putting yourself on the spot to teach something forces you to really learn a topic. We tried this
- in 2007 and found it to be a wonderful success! Sign up information and past session information
- can be found below:
