I was amazed at how frank buyers are about problems they experience. In the case of the Austin Bazaar violin below the reviewer lists some of the problems experienced. Even so the overall experience left the reviewer happy with the final result.
"... Now here's what needs attention, the Bridge: it either needs to be sanded lower or you can make deeper notches on the curve of the bridge. Then the Rosin: Sand the rosin so the glare is gone. Headphones: Not built good enough to withstand the sounds and vibrations of the violin (in my case). Pegs: You need strength to shove the pegs in so they don't slip and additionally use Peg Drops. The STRINGS: They are the worst thing out there, they break to 1/4 the normal strength of Red Tag Violin Strings .Highly recommend replacements since my G and D Strings Broke because the braid failed...
...But it is still Great instrument For Beginners and/ or Intermediates. I saw Laurie Anderson in concert 6 months ago, playing this violin. Incredible sound and cool design. I immediately checked the web site and found out the violin had been reduced from $4,500 to $2250, way out of my price range! Then, a month ago NS dropped the price to $599 with this WAV version. With no retail stores in Florida, I decided to get one from Amazon. Overnight shipment had it in my hands the next day, Amazon Prime rocks!..."
