2011 Joint Annual Meeting SIICA/DFGI

FOCUS ON THE MEETING

The German Society for Immunology (DGfI) and the Italian Society for Immunology, Clinical Immunology and Allergology (SIICA) will jointly hold their next annual meeting in Riccione, close to Rimini, Italy (28th September to 1st October 2011). DGfI and SIICA have put together a meeting of outstanding scientific quality, which is structured into 2 Plenary Symposia, 12 Parallel Symposia (organized in 3 tracks: Innate Immunity, Adaptive Immunity, Clinical Immunology), 14 Workshops, 3 Keynote Lectures, 2 Industrial Symposia, 2 Poster Sessions and 1 Clinical Symposia (jointly with the Italian Society of Rheumatology). The two societies have aimed to make the scientific program attractive to both basic scientists as well as clinicians, with Parallel Symposia covering all aspects of innate and adaptive immunity as well as symposia about immunodeficiencies, tumour immunology, autoimmunity and chronic inflammation. Furthermore on 1st October the Ialian Society of Infectious and Tropical Diseases (SIMIT) invites all meeting delegates to the special Lecture "Immunology and HIV: 30 years of history (JA Levy)" within the Clinical Meeting “New perspectives in the immunopathogenesis of viral infections” that will be held at the Conference Center Palariccione as well.

WELCOME LETTER FROM SIICA PRESIDENT AND DGfI PRESIDENT

Dear colleagues,

We cordially welcome you to the Joint Meeting of the Italian Society for Immunology, Clinical Immunology and Allergology (SIICA) and the German Society for Immunology (DGfI).

Besides a long history of their own national meetings, both SIICA and DGfI have successfully organized bilateral meetings with other immunological societies, offering unique opportunities for in-depth scientific exchange between members of the international immunological community. This is actually the spirit that a few years ago prompted our past-presidents Andreas Radbruch and Luciano Adorini to suggest such an Italian-German Joint Meeting.

Provided the mutual interests of the two societies, the organizers have done their best to assemble one of the most exciting program ever. As usual, the meeting focuses on hot topics of contemporary immunology but also highlights fresh data presented by young scientists, our societies being strongly committed to pursue a policy of special attention to the new generations of immunologists.

We are confident that this joint meeting will be scientifically successful and rewarding for all participants. The lovely city of Riccione will certainly provide the perfect frame for an unforgettable event.

We hope to see you all in Riccione!
