Founded in 1987 / re-established in 2001 by Isolte Avila and David Bower in Amsterdam and Southeast England, Signdance has become a powerful exponent of Deaf and disability led cultural development throughout the world

Signdance Collective began developing SigndanceTheatre in 1987. Established in London, the Company was initially supported and developed with the legendary deaf theatre pedagogue Daphne Payne at Reading University's Theatre of The Deaf also supported by Robin Howard and Maggie White at The Place Theatre.
