University of South Florida’s Omegu Mu chapter of Sigma Tau Delta is a
growing English Honors Society. Sigma Tau Delta functions as a
networking organization for English undergraduate and graduate
students, regardless if majoring in literature, technical writing, or
creative writing. Sigma Tau Delta provides students with scholarship
opportunities, publication possibilities, and an insight into career
options. The international society strives to: -Confer distinction for high achievement in English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies; -Provide, through its local chapters, cultural stimulation on college campuses and promote interest in literature and the English language in surrounding communities; -Foster all aspects of the discipline of English, including literature, language, and writing; -Promote exemplary character and good fellowship among its members; -Exhibit high standards of academic excellence; and serve society by fostering literacy. Our
goals at USF coincide with the international society’s hope that all
chapters instill a similar foundation in their members. Regular
meetings, annual symposiums, and raising money for the English
department are a few events on the agenda. We hope each year will bring
more success and opportunities for Sigma Tau Delta members. |
