President's Message of March 2009

There seemed to be many new faces at our March meeting. But as we made introductions it turned out there were a lot of attendees who have not been regulars. And quite a few are screenwriters who wanted the opportunity to meet Chris Enss. She generously spoke on writing fiction in her main niche, women in the Wild West, as well as her career in Hollywood.

I’m always impressed with the variety of kinds of writers living in our area. It reminds me how important it is to schedule events that satisfy our broad interests. And our next meeting, one of our open reads, will be another sampling of the diverse interests and talents in this community. Mark your calendars today for the second Tuesday in April, April 8th.

You can bring your short submission to our meeting for an anonymous critique by the group. The work is read aloud by our volunteer readers. It is not necessary to bring additional copies for the group.

As a last reminder, April 1st is our deadline for the young writers’ contest. Rules and forms are available at this website. Keep those cards and letters coming in!
