Car pooling
If you are able to help us out with car pooling at any of the 4 potential carpool meets please fill out the Car Pooling form! We will need car poolers for the meet to Giants Ridge on January 7th to the 8th. Hope you can help us out! The other meets are just potential car pooling meets if we have enough participation! It will really help the program save money especially if you were planning on attending the meet! Thanks!

Second Day Success
Tuesday 12/6We thought the conditions would be worse today but they were actually better! The drop in temperature helped freeze the snow a bit for us to glide better. Separated into two groups today: Vets with Eric while Gus and I took the newbies. Practice with balance, double poling, fast waddling up hills to skate V1 and getting the lateral movement on the flats. Lots of form, technique and drills. Hey, this time we are on snow! The practice we put in during dryland training can be implemented on skis. Nordic skiing is very much about balance and technique. Once you have that, you increase your efficiency which then increases your speed. And we all want to be ...

First day on SKIS
Monday 12/5
The moment we had been waiting for...we got to SKI today! And boy oh boy was it an exciting day. Coach Friberg made sure everyone had gotten a pair of skis and we were off! The conditions were not ideal [grass patches, sticky snow, hard to glide, unwaxed skis] but that was not going to stop us. Nordic Warriors know how to work with what they are given and make the best of it while causing a little chaos in between. I was suprised to see so many fearless individuals! Newbies flying down the hill just learning as they go. Vets excited to refresh their memory and get into the groove. Our new yet infamous assistant ...

Insanity Saturday
Saturday 12/3
I love Saturday morning practice...there is just something about it! Most do Tunnel Run to begin while I lead a group of brave individuals who want to go longer. Good work Haas, Burrell, Weisspfennig, Mogs, Jamie and Christopher! Congregated in a new locale for some INSANITY. I'm not gonna lie, I think I prefer Shaun T over Tony. Unfortunately the Febreze team was MIA. Billy and Baago focused as usual. Oskar jumping high, I wish I had those kind of ups. James too. Eric W looks a little gassed from the run. Let's see, on the girls side. Annie appeared to be jamming to her own tunes. Hey, whatever works! Engel and Larsen fighting ...

"Lean with it"
Friday 12/2
Yesterday everyone received their skis and boots at Heritage, not to mention enjoyed a smorgasbord of treats. By the way, those rolo/reeses ritz's were fab. I can tell the girls share my love for baking and treat-making. If you guys are lucky you will get to try my homemade special granola bars!
Drop in temperature today and once again many were not dressed properly. When will they learn!? Warrior mile to get our muscles and bodies warmed up. Lots of bounding work in store. A familiar rap song may have helped some get in the mood to lean. We also added our arms to the mix to simulate more of the skating motion. I ...

Lawn Mower Tetris
Wednesday 11/30
I was running a few minutes late to practice today. When I was on 110 I looked up towards the hill to see the ever-so-large ski team crowded around a bunch of, [for lack of a better word] crap outside the nordic ski complex. Lawn mowers, engines, wooden boards and other odds and ends. Yikes. It was a big day: SHED CLEANING. We all know Coach Friberg loves sharing the shed...right. Lots of teamwork was necessary to tackle the task. We needed to organize and make room for our lovely ski equipment! A group of girls stuck to the brooms...man was that floor dirty. Mogs boasted that she did the most sweeping, though ...
