Israel is located between Africa, Europe and Asia.  The small place has the diversity of all climates.  Up in the north the climate is European, such as the Golan Heights.  At the south there is a desert like Africa, and in the center it is mediterranean.  This is the reason to the immense diversity in vegetation, especially wildflowers.

Unfortunately, the rapid urbanization of Israel causes the extinction of natural treatures, especially wildflowers.  The most vulnerable of them all are the Royal Iris's: see page on the  Royal Irus of Israel of 2006 and the Iris's of 2008
