 Welcome to a new school year and a new Shuksan. We have fabulous new gym and locker room facility that will allow us to play, work hard, improve and have fun with a little effort from each one of you. We are privileged to be in such a fine facility. Take care of it, respect it, and act responsibly.



Preparation for Fall Fitness in PE: 

 Exercise everyday with you heart rate in the target zone for at least 30 minutes. Fall Fitness Testing will begin at the end of September and you want to be ready. Go skateboarding, biking, jogging, swimming, climbing at the YMCA, play indoor soccer, or try out a wii.
 
Events to look forward to:

Fitness Assessments  in the middle/end of September.

Every Thursday is a make-up Friday Fitness run after school. If your student has missed a Friday, your student must make it up on a Thursday after school.

53rd annual Turkey Trot event in November.
 
 
Things to talk to your student about:
 
  • Are you dressing down for PE? PE shirts, sweats/shorts, PE shoes?
  • Are you making the healthy zone on Friday Runs?
  • What is the target heart rate zone?
  • How many minutes a day should you exercise in the target rate zone?

Learning Targets for this Fall:

°        I can set realistic goals for Friday Fitness activities based on meeting the target heart range and my personal fitness level.

°        I can meet the healthy zone on all Fall fitness assessments.

°        I can participate in consistent healthy activities such as daily exercise, sleeping, and eating properly from the food pyramid in order to maintain fitness and reach my goals.
