SHS Summer Cheer Camp!

 

SHS Try-out Information

An Interest Meeting for High Schoolers will be held in the SHS Cafeteria on May 23rd 3:00-3:45
 
Cheerleading Try-Out Information
 
When: June 11th, 13th, 14th and 15th 3:00-5:00 (you will learn the dance/cheer on the 11th, 13th and 14th - pick which date you can attend based on your Regents) The 15th will be the actual try-out in front of the judges, all must attend this day.
Where: in the HS back gym
 
You MUST have a physical exam and a sports packet completed in order to try-out.
 
Schools Physicals will be:
 
Wednesday: June 6 - boys who need physicals (3:00pm SHS Training Room)
Thursday: June 7 - All girls who need physicals (3:00pm SHS Training Room)

Our Story

The Schenectady Varsity Cheerleading Squad has been invited as one of 30 teams to perform in the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida on January 3, 2012. This invitation was given in recognition of the girls hard work and effort at NCA camps, competition and their games. Once in Florida the girls will be attending rehearsals for their half-time performance in addition to participating in a parade the day before the game on January 2. With this great honor also comes a large bill. The total cost for the trip is $30,000.

In order to fund our trip beyond what our parents and school can provide we have taken on a large fundraising effort. This team of 19 girls have truly come together as one to work towards this huge goal. Between selling raffle tickets, washing cars, working concession stands, selling pom pons, cheering/dancing at McDonald's night, talking to local businesses and selling candy we are just making head-way for our total.

We hope that you will continue to follow our Road to the Gator Bowl and join us in our fundraising efforts.

Recent Announcements

  • Cheerleading try-outs for basketball season:
    Monday Nov 7th: for 8, 9 and 10th grade in FA 11 3-5pm
    Tuesday Nov 8th: for 11th and 12th grade in FA 11 3-5pm
    Wednesday Nov: 9th try-out for everyone FA 11 3-end
    The cheerleaders will be performing at Hispanic Heritage Night Wednesday October 26th 5:30-7 at SHS High School
    Wednesday October 19th there will be a Fundraiser at the McDonald's on Union Street from 4:30-7pm
    - Coaches and parents will be working behind the counter while the girls do cheers in front.
    - Come in and support a good cause!
