Proposal Process
The Partners in Education Fund
approaches the grant making process in a single required step: final
proposals. Final Proposals are accepted throughout the course of the
calendar year, with funding being considered on a quarterly basis.
Consideration dates are: January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, and October
1st.
Step 1: Preliminary E-Mail: Brief Summary, Intent and Description (not required)
If you have not received a grant from the Partners in Education Fund in the past, we recommend a brief, one-page summary, intent and description of project sent via e-mail.
Step 2: Final Proposal: Narrative, Financial Forms and Attachments (required)
Proposal Narrative: Please respond to the following prompts:
- Describe your planned program or proposal.
- Describe how the funds will be used.
- What group(s) of students (demographics) will the grant help?
- What specific needs will you meet with the project?
- If you receive only partial funding, what alternative plan might you follow?
- Are there plans for long-term funding and/or maintenance of the proposed project?
- Are other funders involved in the support of this effort; and if so, which ones?
- Describe the measurable goals or outcomes.
- How will you know whether this project succeeded or failed (describe your evaluation process)?
- What do you do to ensure inclusiveness and promote diversity?
- What do you do to promote individualized instruction and mastery learning?
The following attachments are required:
- A budget summary relevant to the grant period.
- A detailed project or program budget.
- List of pledged and committed funding relevant to the proposal.
- Most recent IRS determination letter.
- Board roster.
- Most recent annual report or audited financial statements (if available).
- Appropriate signatures.
A checklist of the required attachments is included for your convenience on this form.
Please submit one complete set of the Final Proposal narrative, financial form and required attachments.
General Advice, Considerations and Checklist Before Submitting A Proposal:
- Your proposal should be self-explanatory. In other words, write
your proposal as though the Schoolhouse Partners Foundation has no
prior knowledge of your program regardless of meetings, discussions or
correspondence with Partners in Education Fund staff, directors or members.
- Please respond to the 11 prompts listed at the top of page 3 as an outline for your proposal narrative.
- Be concise and complete. We prefer not to state a minimum and
maximum page count for the proposal narrative because of variation in
the complexity of the proposed projects or programs and the amounts of
the request.
- Use at least 12-point font for the proposal narrative.
- Please do not bind the materials or place in a notebook.
- The Partners in Education Fund staff will acknowledge receipt of all proposals by e-mail or a post card.
- All materials must be postmarked or delivered at least two weeks prior to each consideration date.
- Incomplete or late applications or multiple requests from an
organization will not be processed for consideration until the
following round of giving.
- Generally, we are willing to meet with potential grantees prior to submission and review of the Final Proposal. We will endeavor to schedule a meeting or site visit prior to the receipt of the Final Proposal.
- Previous support from the Partners in Education Fund neither precludes nor guarantees future funding.
- These guidelines and priorities are subject to change.
- Please contact our staff if you have any questions.
