6. Telnet commands

In the current version of ShotDriver the Telnet functions have not been thoroughly tested, and may not work as expected.

Up to ten devices that communicate via TCP/IP telnet commands may be addressed by ShotDriver. The address and port information for those ten devices is entered in ShotDriver's Preferences window, TCP/IP configuration tab.

A telnet command may appear in any shot entry. A telnet command sends a single text string to a single device. Enter the device number (as it appears in ShotDriver's Preferences window) and a colon, followed by the command. For example:

    3:take 5

...sends the command "take 5" to device number 3.

When a shot with a telnet command is taken, a gray circle indicator appears at the top right corner of the list grid. If the command is not sent properly, that circle will turn red. If the command is acknowledged by the target device, the circle will turn green. Any response is considered an acknowledgement. Any data returned by the device is not displayed.

Use the "TELNET ENABLED" button at the top of the list grid to momentarily disable outgoing telnet commands. Telnet is enabled by default when the application launches.
