To my customers and friends,

I have been afforded an incredible opportunity to travel to Haiti this Saturday, February 20.  Since the devastating earthquake that has brought so much pain and suffering, I have been working closely with the city of Asbury Park, local community members and businesses, and pastors from Ocean Grove, Neptune and Asbury Park to initiate fundraising and relief efforts in our area.

Today, with my flight to Haiti just 48 hours away, I feel I have an incredible opportunity to bring much needed monetary support and supplies to meet victims' basic needs.  I will be traveling with Marc Steiner, a videographer with Agency New Jersey, and Pastor Sony Augustine of Asbury Park.  We will be visiting four locations: Carrefour, Leogane, Petit-Goave, and Cayes.  We will also go to Port-au-Prince: Baptist Mission in Petion-Ville and Mission of Hope in Grande-Goave.

We will be in Port-au-Prince Saturday and Sunday

Our team will travel to places outside of Port-au-Prince on Monday.  In the four cities mentioned above, we will visit churches, schools and clinics.  Pastor Sony has a goal to set up tent schools in the cities we visit; monies, tarps and tents will be needed for this effort.  We will spend our time in Haiti observing and setting up a plan for future efforts involving temporary tent schools within these areas.

Throughout our efforts, our team will be filming the reality we find on the ground in Haiti. We will screen our findings during an all-day memorial service for Haiti on March 7 at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park.

Please be reassured, this is a non-partisan, non-denominational, humanitarian effort.  On a grassroots level, we will endeavor to provide basic needs that so many people in Haiti currently do not have access to; we will strive to reach people who are still waiting for aid.  I am collecting monetary donations and supplies up until 9 p.m. Friday night.  A list of items I am currently collecting include:

Tents
Tarps

Rope

Medical supplies:

Advil

Antibiotic cream

Gauze and bandages

Benedryl

Support, on any level, is much appreciated.  Donations can be dropped off prior to 9 p.m. on Friday at either Langosta Lounge in Asbury Park or Labrador Lounge in Normandy Beach.

Thanks for your continued support.  For updates on our travles, please visit http://cityofasburypark.com/ and click on the Shore4Haiti link.
