Greg Gossel’s paintings are based in street art techniques and his design background. He viscerally depicts the chaos and disconnectedness of American society, by crowding images and text on canvas,
using a variety of mediums, which include acrylic paint,
screen-printing, photo transfers, and collages. Since his first show with Shooting
Gallery in 2006, he has been extremely prolific, showing from Los Angeles to New
York, London and now Miami. Fans of pop
art and graffiti are often drawn it to Gregg’s paintings, noticing a relation
to current events and contemporary society.

Yumiko Kayukawa was born in the small town of Naie in Hokkaido, Japan. The panoramic beauty of her surroundings and feelings of communication with the native animals inspired her to paint the things around her. As a teenager she also fell in love "with the energy and giddiness" of American pop-culture through her exposure to rock n' roll, film, and fashion. By the age of 16, she had debuted into the art world with a comic-book (Manga) feature. Yumiko has shown in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Manchester, and Miami.

An intrepid scavenger of visual artifacts in which memory, melancholia, and madness invoke a visionary topography, where the mortality of dreams engender germinal quotients of relativist understanding, Erik Foss locates the fearful symmetries lurking within the miasma of pop culture at the nexus where representation and witness converge. With the raw vernacular of the streets, Foss makes fine art fodder of the smug complacency and delusional democracy by which our failing empire lulls itself to terminal sleep. A deftly crafted mixed-media mélange of painting, collage, drawing, photography, assemblage and sculptural installation components lays bare the personal demonology of Foss’ visual obsessions along with the greater social pathology of our culture on the brink. -

Joshua Petker is a contemporary painter interested in historic themes who developed his esthetic through personal pursuance of the art.
Among his influences is Klimt, due to his appreciation of beauty. In a recent artists statement he claims, "I live in Hollywood, this century's den of inequity and excess. I have eccentric colourful friends that rival the models of Degas and Renoir, I spend nights at Los Angeles bars that could rival those painted by Monet"

Born in 1979, art has been a part of Maxwell's life for as long as he can remember. Van Arno was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where he attended a Christian Science school from kindergarten through high school. He was accepted at Otis Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles, where he studied under Carol Caroompas and Lita Albquerque, supporting himself working late nights as a bouncer in nightclubs and adult video arcades. By the late eighties, he began producing large 'cut-out' paintings blending cartoon imagery with portraits of cultural and historical icons. More recently, he has been exclusively painting in oil on canvas and wood panels. He continues to push the human figure into more and more extreme postures, causing him to name his painting style Uber-Mannerism. His ongoing fascination with the imagery of Religion and its use of the heroic figure found new relevance recently, as American 'values' were re-examined at home and abroad. Although he has been exploring non-narrative themes recently, his focus remains on the figure and it's power to engage the viewer.

Skot Olsen completed trade school for illustration and animation at the Joe Kubert School in New Jersey, but more importantly he uses what he's learned from peers and constant practice. His painting process has changed through varying subject matter and improving technique since the legendary Harlod Golden Gallery fire that destroyed 9 of Olsens pieces. Through time his brush work has loosened, injecting more life and movement into each piece.

Kris Lewis reverence for masters of old is apparent in his depiction of the human figure, which he uses as a vector for hidden stories, delicate emotion, and universal truth.
After receiving his degree in Illustration at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Kris eventually found himself living and working in Los Angeles, where he still resides and has yet to fully explore. His paintings have been featured in galleries in cities around the world, including L.A., San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Miami, London, and Hong Kong.

Travis Louie has created his own imaginary world that is grounded in Victorian and Edwardian times. It is inhabited by human oddities, mythical beings, and otherworldly characters who appear to have had their formal portraits taken to mark their existence and place in society. Born in Queens, New York, about a mile from the site of the 1964 World’s Fair, his early childhood was spent making drawings and watching “Atomic Age” Sci-Fi and Horror movies.. The visual style of his work is mostly influenced by the lighting and atmosphere of German Expressionist and Film Noir motion pictures from the Silent Era to the late 1950’s. He uses acrylic paints over tight graphite drawings on smooth grounds, like “plate” finish illustration board or finely sanded, primed wood panels.
"Dream Police Boy"

Born in Dallas, Texas in 1966
Pop iconoclast Ron English paints, infiltrates, reinvents and satirizes modern culture and its mainstream visual iconography on canvas, in song, and directly onto hundreds of pirated billboards. English exists spiritually somewhere between a cartoon Abbie Hoffman and a grown-up, real-life Bart Simpson, delivering a steady stream of customized imagery laden with strong sociopolitical undertones, adolescent boy humor, subversive media savvy, and Dali-meets-Disney technique. Dedicated to finding the sublime in the everyday and breaking the momentum of the didactic approach to art and life, English offers up an alternative universe where nothing is sacred, everything is subverted, and there is always room for a little good-natured fun. -Opera Gallery Bio

Last year Aqua launched an additional venue in a warehouse in the heart of Miami's gallery district, just a few blocks from the Rubell Collection, and near other important venues such as the Margulies Collection and the MOCA Goldman Warehouse, and many satellite fairs.
Aqua Wynwood is an intimate booth-style fair featuring approximately 48 exhibition spaces with permanent 10 to 12 foot museum quality walls, (drywall over plywood). Aqua leases the warehouse year-round, allowing exhibitors and their artists plenty of time to create special installations and other projects which are difficult in temporary spaces. Aqua Wynwood also features a breezy open air lounge in the spirit of the courtyard at the Aqua Hotel.
Based on the west coast, Aqua's mission is to promote innovative galleries in their region, with about half of the exhibitors being from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Portland. Aqua also includes exceptional programs by many other US and international galleries, and continues to broaden each year.
