Research

I have 3 patents issued with 1~2 more in application process, about 20 conference papers, 6 journal papers and a few technical reports.

  • Modeling and Optimization in EDA

    • Lithography simulation and optimization
      • Based on our proposed ILT and related technology, it is possible to extend the same lithography technology to one further semiconductor technology node and delay the introduction of double pattern mask. The potential market value is at least a Few Hundred Million Dollars.
      • I proposed a new method to speed up process variational lithography simulation/optimization, which is 10X faster than industry standard.

  • Modeling and Optimization beyond Electrical Engineering

    • Financial modeling and investment optimization for portfolio management
      • One of my most recent project is to help my friend in mutual fund to model and predict China cement market growth related to government annual investment plan, based on data in past 20 years. My proposed model with JUST one more parameter succeeded to reduce the maximum relative error from their original 50% to 3%. Moreover, in my model, all of the parameters extracted from macroeconomic data match micro economic empirical values exactly.   
    • Economic and sociological application
      • My friend built a model to describe formation of social stratum based on certain incoming distribution. However, the model need two levels of maximization with complicated conditions, so it is very hard to draw any analytical conclusion from it. By numerical computation, I help her to prove that a society could automatically forming different classes. This can  obliquely compare the total efficiency of Capitalism and Socialism.
    • Predict the principle mechanism of biology and medicine system
    • Corporate culture and cross department collaboration analysis based on quantitative modeling
