Dear Parents, To get the Shining Stars to be excited and accountable for their learning, we are giving them key chains to keep on their backpacks. They will be able to earn beads to put on those key chains by learning certain things throughout the year. When they are ready to demonstrate an understanding of an objective, they know to sign up on the day they would like to be assessed. Most of the objectives are beginning of the year expectations in kindergarten, but some are just some things that we believe every child should know to give them more independence. We are asking that the children keep these key chains on their backpacks. Encourage your child not to take it off. Also, please share in their excitement over learning some new things. Please practice some of these objectives at home, too, so each child can be successful. As always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Purple Pony Bead – Writes first and last name
Light Blue Pony Bead – Recognizes all letters
Dark Blue Pony Bead – Produces all letter sounds
Heart Bead – Counts to 30
Red Pony Bead – Writes numerals 1 – 30
Green Pony Bead – Counts to 100
Butterfly Bead – Recognizes numerals 1 – 30
Yellow Pony Bead – Recognizes 15 sight words
Orange Pony Bead – Calendar Concepts (Days, Months, Seasons)
Brown Bead – Ties shoes
Pink Pony Bead – Zips coat
Turquoise Pony Bead – Knows address and phone number
STAR BEAD - STAR STUDENT HAS COMPLETED ALL OBJECTIVES!!!
The students know that when they are ready to demonstrate one of the above objectives, they are to come into the classroom and sign up so that I will know to get with each day. I am asking that they sign up for only one at this time, because I am not sure how many I will be able to get with each day!
