Upcoming Shiloh Elementary PTA Events!

Shiloh PTA Vision

Your PTA Executive Board has bench marked nearby schools that have successful PTAs. As a common thread, each school demonstrates strong academics and parental involvement. Therefore the vision of the Shiloh PTA is to increase PTA membership and fundraiser efforts to provide our school with the means necessary to support each child, parent and staff member. We will do this by:

2011-2012 Vision
Allowing each member to share their specific vision. Share your Vision today!

Conducting general PTA membership meetings before PTA sponsored events to increase membership participation.

Increasing communications.

Soliciting commitment for a Reflections Chair, Grant Writer, Website Coordinator, Spirit Wear and Discount Coordinator.

Potentially creating a Parent Center equipped with take-home educational resources.

Gradually increasing after school activities, social clubs and educational field trips.

Re-starting the Room Parent program. Increasing direct parent volunteers with teachers and in the classroom.

Increasing local business supporters.

More "non-purchase" fundraisers like Recycling, Cash for Gold and Box Tops for Education.

2011-2012 Plan to Support Vision
Members can now e-mail, directly enter their vision on the website or send a message directly to their child's teacher.

To better utilize parent's time, PTA meetings will be held either during or before events; Curriculum Night, Winter Celebration; Sweetheart Dance and Shiloh Idol.

Starting with the PTA handbook, The PTA Executive Board included detail information and created a comprehensive communication plan.

So far we have identified a a few Chair positions. Please review the open positions and let us know where you can help out.

Thanks to Title1, Shiloh Es will have a fully equipped Parent Center. Contact Valerie Dickey for more information on Title1, its program and benefits.

We've added three more school activities, including a Chess Club, and details are pending for the in-house field trips and potential 5th grade field trip.

The Shiloh PTA is currently reviewing restarting the Room Parent program. Several volunteers have inquried to chair this position on registration day. The PTA room parent coordinator will host a Room Parent training session in the next couple of weeks.

We are partnering with community leaders like Kroger and others, who hosted our PTA Welcome Back To School Breakfast for the wonderful Shiloh Elementary staff.

This year we've added True Blue.

Membership Corner

Last year we concluded with about 273 PTA members. Our goal for this year is 500 members which would put us at an almost 60% increase vs. last year. Please help us reach our goal by becoming a member of the Shiloh Elementary PTA today. It is only $6.00 to join. Parents, Grandparents, Friends, Family Members, Neighbors…anyone can also join. Volunteer Opportunities

Parents please make a conscience effort to attend all PTA events this year. The Shiloh PTA needs your support in order to host these events. In the past, our supportive teachers have carried the volunteer torch. The PTA feels very strongly about its volunteer program. You and your children benefit greatly from the time you give. The Shiloh Dads Club

Headed up by Bernard Anthony, The Shiloh Dad's Club is off to a busy year. They could use more members! To join, please call Bernard Anthony at 678-230-2226 bernard.anthony@comcast.net . The Shiloh Dads Club meets once a month, usually the 1st Saturday of every month, 10:00 – 11:15am at the school.
