Bullfrogs Program Outline:

Revised February 2009

Overview:

The Bullfrogs program was initiated in 1998 and operates under the umbrella of Sherwood Park Inline. The program addresses the desire of some players to compliment their house league play with a more competitive level of hockey. Through this program, any player registered and participating in the SpinLine house league (during the current season) has the opportunity to be selected to play on a team in their age division and participate in events that are approved by the SpinLine executive.

Objective:

The Bullfrogs program will provide one team in each of the 12U, 14U and 16U divisions to participate in interprovincial play where numbers and skill level make this possible. Teams will be comprised of players playing within the SpinLine house league program and who commit to the guidelines set below. Teams will be representative “REP” teams including the top players interested in playing at this level.

Player & Parent Commitment:
Ø Must participate in no less then 70% of scheduled house league games
Ø Must be willing to accept the added cost to play at this level.
Ø Must attend a maximum of one practice per week as set forth by the coach of the team.
Ø Pay a player fee of $50.00 payable to SpinLine no later then the first league game. This fee will be used to partially offset the cost of the player’s uniforms and tournament weekend held with Sherwood Park as the host.
Ø Must participate in the interprovincial program that will consist of five weekends.
a) Three travel weekends (as set forth by the league)
b) One weekend in Sherwood Park and one weekend in Edmonton

Note: The league is very much in an infancy stage and will be subject to change. At this point the participating Associations will be Medicine Hat, Calgary, Red Deer, Edmonton, Sherwood Park) Some smaller associations may participate but will not be awarded a hosting opportunity this year.

Selection Process:

Ø A player evaluation and selection committee will be struck by the SpinLine Executive. The committee will be comprised of knowledgeable inline persons that are unbiased and committed to select the top players.
Ø The selection committee will evaluate players during games played in the SpinLine house league program at the beginning of inline season.
Ø The top 10 eligible players from each division, determined through evaluations, will be selected to represent the Bullfrog program and SpinLine.
Ø Goalies will be evaluated at an independent session as outlined by the Evaluation committee. 2 goalies for each team will be selected. Date and time to be determined.
Ø Team rosters will be sent to the SpinLine Executive for final approval before contacting the selected players.
Ø The players then will be contacted to ensure their desire and commitment to the team is genuine.
Ø The Teams will be posted on the SpinLine website no later then May 27th.

(players that commit to the team must be prepared to possibly attend a weekend as early as May 30th, and a practice previous to this event)

Coach Selection Process:

The SpinLine Executive will make every attempt to select a coach that is unbiased and knowledgeable of the game of inline hockey.
Ø Coaches that express interest will do so through an application process as set forth by Sherwood Park Inline.
Ø Coach selection will be made by the SpinLine Executive.
Ø Application deadline will be April 24th, 2009.
