Three local hockey players made history recently when they became the first inline hockey players from Sherwood Park to capture the PLATINUM (highest level) open mens division title at the North American Roller Hockey Championships (NARCH). David Filewich, Joey Sharp and Aaron Leisman, all players from Sherwood Park Inline (SPINLINE) joined seven other elite players from British Columbia.
An exciting weekend included travel delays that saw several of the players only arrive at the rick 5 minutes before their first game. Hard work, talent and great chemistry overcame the fact that the team had never played together and saw the group through the the Gold medal game where they beat the previously undefeated ISCA Grizzlies (New Jersey) 3.2.
Our congratulations go out to these three young men who represented SPINLINE and Sherwood Park with hard work, dedication to the game and class.
