Harvest Festival & Spook Alley

HARVEST FESTIVAL COMMITTEE NEEDS YOU!It is time to start planning our annual Harvest Festival for next October 2011! It takes a lot of volunteers to make this community event successful but we try to have fun along the way. If you are interested in being a part of the planning committee for the Harvest Festival or the Spook Alley Haunted House please email or call me with your contact information. This is a fun night for our students and families and we can't do it without you!

School District Budget Community Listening Groups

The next community listening group will be this coming Tuesday, February 15 at 7pm in the Laurel Ridge Middle School Media Center.

If you would like to hear about Sherwood's school budget for the next biennium, and share your input with our school board, please plan on attending.

Technology & Our Children - Presentation

Mark your calendars and save the date! It’s time for the 2nd Annual Titan Olympics, sponsored by the Laurel Ridge Middle School PAC.
· Date: Friday February 4th
· Time: 5:30-9:00pm
· Location: Laurel Ridge Middle School
· Cost: Entry fee of $3 per person; $10 per family maximum. Once inside, all games are FREE! There will be a variety of fun food options for purchase, including 2 pasta dishes from Macaroni Grill. All proceeds will fund Teacher Wish List Items.

There will be 18 games to play, with something fun for everyone. We’ll have crazy relays, Minute-To-Win-It challenges, dodgeball, Guitar Hero, and more – try them all! Other highlights include Opening and Closing ceremonies, and the Gladiator Showdown featuring All-Star Titans and Olympians. Please join us for this fun family event!

School Store Holiday Specials

From now until Winter Break, the school store will be selling Hot Chocolate and Muffins for 50 cents each

The store also has new Crimson red t-shirts for sale for $12. SMS t-shirts and sweatshirts make great Christmas presents!!

Student of the Month

Each month Sherwood Middle School recognizes students who demonstrate positive character traits. Each teacher nominates one student who they believe exemplified the character trait of that particular month and all the nominees are recognized as "Students of the Month." In September the trait was “Kindness” (to everyone) and in October it was “Courage” (standing your ground). Nominees get a group picture taken (by grade level) and this year they will receive a magnet for their locker honoring them as a Student of the Month.

Check out the bulletin board by the Media Center each month to learn more about the character trait of the month, as well as the students who were honored each month!
