This is sub-website of the officialSherborn Yacht Clubwebsite.  This site does not replace the Sherborn Yacht Club site.  Rather this SYC Racing site augments the Sherborn Yacht Club site with all current Racing Information.

Racing 2011 Schedule Highlights

We will continue with many of the SYC racing traditions in 2011.   Beginners and experienced sailors alike are encouraged to participate in any racing event.  
The key to the success and FUN of these events is your participation. 

• DONE: DS High School team (and Alumni) VS. SYC Regatta:  June 12th (1:30-5) The racing will start at 2 pm, competitors meeting at 1:30. 
  
• To register, please email Charlie at csiegal@gmail.com.   Space is limited, so email Charlie as soon as possible. 

• Sunday Afternoon Racing:   As in past years, the SYC will host Sunday afternoon racing.   Racing Starts at 1 pm.  Arrive at 12:30 to rig. Beginners and experienced sailors alike are encouraged to participate.   Don't worry if you don't have a skipper or crew.   Come on down and we will pair you with a sailing partner.
  
• Double Handed Series: There are four double-handed series in Hunters or 420s
  
• Solstice Series (Hunters): June 5th and 19th
  
• Parker Cup (420): July 3rd and 10th
• Dog Days (Hunter): July 24th and 31st
  
• End o' Summer Series (420);  August 14th and 28th.
• Sunfish Race Days:  There are 4 sunfish race days: June 26th, July17th, August 7th, and September 4th.
  
• Golden Retriever Races:  There are 4 Golden Retriever race days: June 26th, July17th, August 7th, and September 4th.
• The Golden Retriever days are for beginner and intermediate sailors.  Fun and silly races where sailors chase down tennis balls around the pond.

• Tuesday Evening Race Team Practice:  Starting every other Tues, 6:30 pm - 8 pm 
• Tuesdays: 6/28, 7/12, 7/26, 8/9, 8/23
  
• Open to all juniors members who are, or want to be, members of any high school sailing team.  Generally 8th graders and older.
  
• Charlie will coach on 420 boat speed and boat handling, team racing drills, and optionally spinnakers and trapezes.
• Arrive at 6pm to rig so we can hit the water at 6:30pm when Charlie arrives.
  
• You must email Charlie each Tuesday you plan to attend, csiegal@gmail.com.

• Sailing with Stars:   Details still to be determined.  Date is tentatively 8/21.  More info as soon as possible.
  

• Wednesday Afternoon Junior Fleet Racing: Starting June 29 -Every Wed, 1-4 pm  - Open to all juniors (Members & guests)

•  Libby Itse Memorial Sunfish Regatta on Labor Day (Monday 9/5):    We continue the tradition of the SYC’s epic Sunfish regatta
• There will be five races starting at 12:45pm. Be there at noon to set up. This is an open race - you don't have to be an SYC member to participate - so if you know anyone who might be interested, encourage them to sign up. There are SYC Sunfish available to the first five people who ask.
  

• Yankee Duo in Orleans, MA on September 17th and 18th.    Another SYC tradition continues as the SYC co-hosts this sunfish regatta on the Cape
• The Yankee Duo is two separate events held on the third weekend in September at the Orleans Yacht Club. Organized by the Sherborn (MA) Yacht Club, 2011 will be the 42st year of the Yankee Duo. This event is actually two days of racing - the Chowder Cup on Saturday and Just Desserts on Sunday. This Sunfish regatta brings sailors from all over New England to compete and is the final segment in the New England Sunfish Championship.
