I-Ling Shen, Ph.D. in Economics
Extramural Fellow, Institute for Economic and Social Research (IRES), Catholic University of LouvainI-Ling Shen obtained her Ph.D. in Economics in June 2009 from IRES and the Department of Economics, Catholic University of Louvain, where she also earned her M.A. in Economics with distinction and was awarded the ARC fellowship for her doctoral study. She spent her final stage of dissertation writing and beyond at the Department of Econometrics, University of Geneva as an E.U. funded Marie-Curie Experienced Researcher while collaborating on new projects within the research training network -- "Transnationality of Migrants" (TOM). Since 2008, Shen has also been a research affiliate with the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA, Bonn). Shen has written several research papers and published at the Journal of Economic Inequality. Her research has so far focused on applied theories in the fields of migration, development, growth, and public economics. Her doctoral dissertation is entitled International Migration and Its Impacts on Inequality and Education. Shen recently moved to Los Angeles on the U.S. H-4 Visa, and she continues to work on her research in progress. Please see her curriculum vitae for more information.
