For our Digital History class we were given an assignment to manipulate digital images with a program called GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program). I have included the following photographs beside their originals to display the results of my experiment with this program. While I don't consider myself a photographer I had a lot of fun with this assignment, and have developed a greater appreciation for the wonders of digital photography! 1. Convert a colour image to greyscale and to black and white
Images of the Roman Baths and the Cathedral in Bath, England
2. Create a thumbnail of a large image A sunset on Georgian Bay 3. Resize a photo without cropping it
Lake Ontario 4. Crop an image Snapping turtle on Campion Island
5. Try saving copies of the same image with different resolutions
