My name is Shelagh Staunton and I am a Public History student at the University of Western Ontario. I recently graduated with a B.A. (Honours) in History from Queen's University.

History has always played a big role in my life. A large part of what inspired me to pursue Public History was a fascination with documents from the past. My family possesses a set of letters written to my great-grandmother from her then-fiancee who served in World War One. In holding these letters I feel a connection to the past that goes beyond the words on the page. That, in my mind, is how Public History operates in our day to day lives. As Public Historians we seek to help others communicate with history through museums, archives, and heritage sites. My previous work in the field has led me to pursue this degree where I may contribute to generating these experiences for others.

On a more personal level, I enjoy creative writing, playing piano and guitar, and traveling whenever I get the chance.
