On an electric guitar with a "zero fret", the traditional slotted nut still controls the string spacing, but the zero fret ( which is actually the fret wire ) controls the height of the strings above the frets. The strings will lay directly on the zero fret and the string height will be adjusted by filing or replacing the zero fret instead of cutting the slots in the nut deeper.
Our Sensei and his 2 sons own a few electric guitars with the zero frets. They understand that a better than the average quality electric guitar has this unique zero fret system.
We have taken some of the electric guitars with the zero frets for your inspection.
The 3 photos:
1. An US-made 1966 Mosrite 12-string guitar ( Sunburst )
2. A Japan-made 1967 Yamaha 12-string guitar ( Pearl white )
3. An US-made 1967 Mosrite 12-string guitar ( Pearl white ) being used as a 6-string guitar
Other electric guitars with the zero frets are:
1. A Japan-made 1968 Yamaha 6-string guitar ( Sunburst )
2. A Korean-made 2001 Burns 6-string guitar ( Red )
3. A Korean-made 2003 Burns 6-string guitar ( White )
Our Sensei strongly believe that the best place to buy the electric guitars
is the E-Bay Auction site !!

The Japanese dieticians and scientists have discovered how to eat beef, chicken and pork without getting cancer recently. This information is available to anyone who is concerned about the healthy diet.
What we need is the special preparation procedure before eating those meat, including the oily or fatty portion of meat.
If you would like to find out the special preparation procedure, you can join the SFNS and come to attend the Japanese cancer prevention cooking classes held at our Dojo by our Sensei.

On May 26th, 2009, our Sensei purchased a 2nd-hand Toyota truck for his Japanese sword restoration business use from one of his Japanese friends. His friend was an original owner of the vehicle since 1992. The Toyota truck has, amazingly, had 360,400 miles driven by the previous owner, however, the condition of engine is still very strong. His Japanese friend kept changing engine oil every 3,000 miles or less the majority of the time. This was the 2nd truck that our Sensei has owned for his business. Our Sensei used to own an air-cooled 1968 VW truck for his business, however, he sold it to Bruce San about 5 years ago.
This Toyota truck is so strong. Our Sensei and his older son went to the Petaluma Military Museum on Saturday, July 25th, 2009 to conduct the sword lecture and sword display. He drove more than 100 miles on that day.
On Saturday, September 26th, 2009, he and his 1st son went to the San Jose Japantown Festival for sword display, Tameshi-giri and Ken-jitsu demonstrations. He has driven more than 100 miles and safely came back home in San Francisco.
So far, our Sensei changed the engine oil 3 times in June, 2009, September 2009 & on November 16th, 2009 since the purchase of this Toyota truck in the late May, 2009.
During the 1st and 2nd week of July, 2009, our Sensei and his sons made some signs on this Toyota truck for advertisement purpose. We have taken some photos of these signes for your inspection.

Mr. Bob Bogle was one of the original members of the famous Ventures, the instrumental music players from the US in the early & mid 1960's. Mr. Bogle passed away on June 15th, 2009. He was born on January 16th, 1934 in Oklahoma.
He was originally the lead guitar player with Mr. Don Wilson, the rhythm guitar player. After Mr. Nokie Edwards became the lead guitar player in 1960, Mr. Bob Bogle became the permanent Bass guitar player. Mr. Mel Taylor joined the Ventures as the drummer in 1962. Thus, the 4 members of the Ventures group was formed.
The very 1st time that the Ventures visited from the US to Japan was on January 2nd, 1965. They used the famous Mosrite guitars when they played in the 5 different cities of Japan. The Japanese were considering adopting the Mosrite guitars like the Rolls Royce. The Mosrite guitars were made in Bakersfield, Califirnia. Some replicated Mosrite guitars were made in the Japanese electric guitar market. The replica Japan-made Mosrite guitars often appear in the E-Bay Auction Site.
At least, Mr. Bogle played the lead guitar for 3 music renditions during their concerts in various cities of Japan:
1. Telster
2. Perfidia
3. Walk don't run
Before they used the Mosrite guitars, they were using the Fender Stratocaster, Fender Musicmaster and Fender Jazzmaster guitars in the early 1960's.
Mr. Bob Bogle's death is very tragic. Our Sensei grew up with the Ventures sound in Japan, and recalls the music Mr. Bogle made very well. He will be missed.

Our Sensei owns 7 different kinds of acoustic guitars in his possession. The 1st acoustic guitar that he purchased was while he was growing up as an early teenager in Japan. This was a very first guitar before his father bought him a red electric guitar in 1964. It was in the winter of 1963, he bought an acoustic guitar from a local pawn shop in the Kawasaki City area.
In 2005 & 2006, he bought 4 acoustic guitars from the E-Bay auction site. The 2 were the 12-string Fender Shenandoah 1967 models. One of them was a gift to Steve San. The good thing about the acoustic guitar is that you do not need an amplifier to play with. It is also very easy to carry since the weight is very light. Our Sensei's 2nd son sometimes plays a 3/4 size acoustic guitar in his room.
We have taken 3different kinds of guitar photos for your inspection:
1. 1967 Fender Shenandoh 12-string guitar
2. 1968 Fender guitar
3. A 3/4 size guitar

Our Sensei cooks his lunch and dinner at home. Ocassionally, he eat out with his SFNS members and associates. When he cooks at home, he does not use this taste or flavor enhancer to cook his meals at all. Everyone should avoid using this taste enhancer for cooking. When we eat out, we have no knowledge of whether or not the restaurant we go to dine is using this taste enhancer.
The Konbu ( Kelp ) extract was artificially made in the Japanese laboratory in 1906 then the Ajino-moto was marketed throughout Japan in 1909. It has been discovered and patented by Kikunae Ikeda. The US brand name for the Ajino-moto is Ac'cent, and it is known as MSG, simply. The Chinese and Korean people have their own names for this Ajino-moto product. The literal meaning of Ajino-moto is " Base element or essence of Taste ". It is widely used in the world.
The Ajino-moto brings the body condition known as "Chinese Restaurant Syndrome" or " Japanese Restaurant Syndrome" because of its use in Asian cooking. The indivisual symptoms include headaches, chest pains, facial pressure, burning sensations, thirsty, nausea and sweating.
The excessive use of the Ajino-moto will bring the cancer on the digestive system tract. Watch out !! Watch out !! Watch out !! Watch out !! Watch out !!

Our Sensei thinks that the one of the most beautiful bridges in the world is the Golden Gate Bridge. The construction of Golden gate Bridge began on January 5th, 1933. The project was finished by April 1937. The Golden Gate Bridge opened to vehicular traffic on May 28th, 1937. At that time, there was no way that the Japanese people could build the same or equivalent size of the Golden Gate Bridge. Actual color is officially known as the international red, therefore, it is not the golden color. The international red is most visible color during the foggy season.
Our Sensei has seen many American movies showing the Golden Gate Bridge. A few of the Japanese movies were made at the the Golden Gate Bridge location. There are 3 vista points that are very famous. We often see the photographs in the post cards, magazines and books. The San Francisco side of the vista points has the statue of the builder/designer, Joseph Strauss. The 2 Sausalito sides of the vista points are much more spectacular since we can see the Downtown San Francisco, including the Bay Bridge. The San Francisco side of the Bay Bridge has the same suspension structure as the Golden Gate Bridge.
Our Sensei would like to become the part of Golden Gate Bridge after his death. He wishes that after the cremation process, his ashes should be scattered in the ocean by the Golden Gate Bridge.

During our Sensei's youth time in Japan, he was taught by his parents and relatives many good things for his life & longevity. The diet was one of them. He was often told eat 80% full stomach. If we eat 100% full stomach, we will feel sluggish and get too sleepy. Then we beceome too lazy to do anything positive.
Actually the consumption of excessive of food or any ingredient can damage our body. Excessive salt, sugar, milk products, and animal oil should be avoided. Possibly, we should avoid them completely. We must change our diet slowly.
Sugar will do a lot of damage to our body. In fact, pure sugar is not needed for our body at all. Our body produces sugar naturally from the food we consume. It is interesting to note that after Coca Cola was introduced in China, the Chinese people, overall, started having more tooth decay.
Once the milk product was introduced right after World War II in Japan, the Japanese people started to developed more gastro-intestinal cancer and colon cancer. It is the fact that more than 60% of the population on the Planet of Earth cannot digest the lactose or milk sugar. Avoid any product from the hormone infested cows and domestic poultry.
Our Sensei knows the worst combination of 2 ingridients are the sugar and lard. When you put these 2 ingredients together and spin them quickly in the container, you will get the middle portion of Oreo cookies. He was surprised to find the traditional way of eating style sometimes shown on TV. A father and son or grandfather and a grandson eating the worst kind food on the planet of earth together and smiling. This propaganda is a very terrible thing.
Eat a lot of leafy greens and fruit, and do not eat full stomach, instead eat 80% full stomach.

Our Sensei gives the physical examination for our SFNS members to find out the true age at our Dojo. He makes us perform all kinds of legs, arms & body movement to determine our true age. Simple sit-ups, pull-ups, push ups & stretching exercise are used for our physical examination.
Through the physical examination, he will be able to tell each student physical ability & true age:
1. Abdominal strength
2. Muscular flexibility
3. Body stabilization
4. Endurance level
5. Joint mobility
6. Stamina level
7. Cordination
8. Balance
You can join our Society and let our Sensei determine your true age through the physical examination.

Our Sensei bought the 2 Yamaha electric guitars from the E-Bay Auction site in 2008. One is the 1968 6-string Sunburst Yamaha guitar and the other one is the 1967 12-string Pearl-white color guitar. They were both good condition for their ages over 40 years old. Especially the 6 string Yamaha guitar sounded almost like the US Mosrite guitar.
The literal meaning of Yama-ha is mountain-feather, like Taka-no-ha or feather of hawk, which is one of the Yasuri-me ( File markings ) in the Nakago ( Tang ).
When he was cleaning up the Tremolo unit on Sunburst guitar, he has seen the 6 numbers as 43 03 01 under the metal plate. He knew exactly what they meant. They were Showa Era 43rd Year, March 1st. The Showa 43rd Year was 1968.
Our Sensei bought them at a very reasonable price since he knew exactly how much they are worth. He paid 1/2 of the market value. He will be leaving them for his 2 sons to keep them. Possibly the value might go up a little higher within 10 years since they are the true vintage Japanese made Yamaha electric guitars.
