The seeds of Women’s Circle were planted here in our parish in 1999. It started under of the direction of Susan Vivan who was the family enrichment coordinator. There were some breakfast programs and mini retreats offered which a number of women attended and seemed to really enjoy.
As these programs developed eventually a MOMS (Ministry of Mother’s Sharing) program was established. MOMS is a national program which is in over 200 dioceses across the country. Karen Owens was the coordinator of this program and as it took off it was found that the experiences shared spoke to ALL women regardless of age, parental status, or even being married, and so Women’s Circle was born. Under the continued leadership of Karen and Sister Janice Smith, Women’s Circles developed into a varied program of prayer, reflection, and sharing. Using some wonderful books as resources Women’s Circle has offered a number of programs for the last few years. In 2004 we began a new era – under the guidance of Sr. Carol, our Director of Faith Formation at the time, and a steering committee of women who have participated in the program in the past, we began another chapter in the history of this ministry. Sr. Carol moved on to provide her much needed help at the mother house in 2006. Consequently, Deacon Carl Swanson stepped in and is now our current Directory of Faith Formation, and with his much appreciated support, we continue to grow in our ministry.
We are very happy to have everyone present and welcome you a new season of Women’s Circle.
