Criteria - A unit that is involved in community service (either the local or world community) on a regular or ongoing basis, thus promoting the concept of “Let Me Help”, is eligible for this award. This award may be recommended quarterly. Please provide a detailed list of actions.

USS COLUMBUS- for on-going excellence of duty in charitable and community service in STARFLEET Region One for 1998. USS JURASSIC - Crocheting Afghan blankets and donating them to the Children's Hospital, the Red Cross and the Cincinnati Crisis Pregnancy Center. USS DOMINATOR – for outstanding and on-going community service projects with the OCP, ADA and the ARC USS CHARLESTON – The crew of the USS Charleston has annually given their time and talents to the following charities: The Adopt-A-Highway (3 times a year), The OCP (donating as much as 8327.15), The ADA Tour-De-Cure, The MS-Walk-A-Thon, The Ronald McDonald House (both donating aluminum cans and providing dinners to the families), The Low Country Food Bank (by resorting and inspecting food), and the American Red Cross by sponsoring Blood Drives and donating blood. USS JAMESTOWN - for the past 19 years, her crew has help local Charities such as the following: Children’s Hospital of the King's Daughters, the March of Dimes, the American Cancer Society, the Battered Women's Shelter and many others. They also collected coupon for the Over Sea Coupon Project and stamps for the SFI's Stampede program. They collected food goods for the local Food Bank. The crew has visited local schools and talked about science and Sci-Fi to the students and other civil groups also. USS REPRISAL - 2001 for the past few years, her crew has help local Charities such as the following: Coat drive for the needy, Clothing drive for Goodwill, Uniforms for emergency workers if the 9-11 disaster, Medical books for a beginning ambulance service in Mexico, Collects money for the 9-11 fund, helped the Ronald McDonald Charities, the Salvation Army, sent items to those serving in the Military overseas as well as needy children overseas. And much much more to many many more!! USS WEST VIRGINIA- (for the 2nd year in a row) furnished 100 coloring books for the summer reading program at the Dunbar Library, Dunbar, West Virginia. They hope the children at the library will enjoy them a lot, as they was a lot of love and time that went into making them. They were able to get both Staples and Office Max to help making the books, each make 50 copies for them. The book had 25 pages was loaded with animals and things to do. USS REPRISAL - 2002 -Crew participated in the Toys-for-Tots campaign donating approximately 15 toys, and donating time to help collect the toys Crew participated in ;Operation Christmas Child; collecting 7 shoeboxes filled with small gifts, and candy for needy children Crew participated in ;Christmas Makers; were a child was given a Nintendo Gameboy for Christmas. Crew participated in "Warmer Hearts" were 3 winter coats were donated to needy children The crew donated 2 boxes of food to the 2nd Harvest Food Bank Collected coupons for the OCP approximately $200 (not turned in as of yet) A crewmember became a CPR instructor with the American Red Cross and volunteered for at least 5 hours teaching classes A crewmember is a CPR Instructor with the American Heart Association volunteering over 60 hours teaching the CPR and CPR Instructor;s course Crewmembers participated in the AHA ;Restart A Heart; campaign on Saturdays in Feb were over 300 persons were trained in CPR Members of the crew participating in ;The Chipping of the Green; a local project were old Christmas Trees are chopped into mulch for organic mulch beds Members had participated in ;Defenders Of Wildlife; over the year supporting proactive legislation that protects our nation;s wildlife Members celebrated Arbor Day planting a total of 5 trees on the 26th Members donated 14 bags of clothing to the Church Hill Clothes Closet Cadet Ashley Smith volunteered at the Church Hill Clothes Closet Cadet Ashley Smith volunteered at the Church Hill Food Pantry Crew participated in the March of Dimes Walk Crew participated in the Juvenile Diabetes Walk Crew participated in the American Heart Walk Crew participated in the Susan G Komen Walk Crew participated in the Lupus Research Walk Crew participated in a Walk for the battered Women's Shelter Crewmembers donated 2 cell phones and equipment to a Battered Women's Shelter Crew donated over 50 magazines to Veterans Organizations. USS OHIO • NCC-75007-for outstanding and on-going participation with the Overseas Coupon Program in 2004 by collecting $ 17,183.47 in coupons as well as ongoing community service in their local community and worldwide. Locally, we started collecting Box Tops for Education and Campbell’s Labels that we give to a local school. We still collect can tabs for Ronald McDonald House, now giving them to a local House. We answered phones for the local PBS station’s telethons. Some of us, through our club’s amateur radio license, continued to help with emergency communications through Skywarn and Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) and as communications volunteers for marathons, bike rallies and parades. We also helped give Volunteer Examiner amateur radio testing to the community. Regionally, we sent lap robes to help the USS Jurassic with their lap robes for veterans project and sent candy to the USS Hornet for Operation: Christmas Child. In the worldwide community, we restarted sending coupons to two bases through the Overseas Coupons Project. Through our membership in the Eagle Squadron, we sent 3 each of 6 items to the wounded at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for the 2004 Eagles Aid Project and for the 2004 Eagles Wings Project had our names put on large support posters for Troops of the 25th Infantry Division (Light) and the United States Marines of 1st Marine Division in Iraq and Afghanistan along with wounded troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center. We also sent 16 items and a Christmas card each to two soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq.

USS Ohio NCC 75007 -For the following projects collected Box Tops For Education and Campbell’s Labels for a Lincoln School and can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Cleveland; answered phones for the local PBS station’s telethons; helped with the Barberton Library’s Open House; held our first Amateur Radio Field Day with the ship’s callsign to show the community how amateur radio could help in an emergency. ; Crewmembers were part of the Akron Red Cross Radio Club and ARES to help with Skywarn and other local community events and emergency communications and help give Volunteer Examiner testing for others to get their amateur radio license. Each year during the Christmas holiday season they adopt a single parent family. CO took refresher training in Skywarn to know the latest on reporting severe weather to National Weather Service. CO with her Amateur Radio license gave tests to the community so others could get their license. Donated coupons for OCP. Collecting of Acme receipts, which they gave to the Barberton Public library. CO began recycling newspapers and magazines for the library. She continued to give amateur radio testing to the community. XO donated bleach to a local animal rehabilitation center and gave hats and gloves to the less fortunate in the community. One of their newest members walked in the Relay for Life for cancer awareness.
