Kristen Sajonas ![]() kristen sajonas is an east bay transplant (union city!!!!!!) who currently calls daly city home. resident of tha shugashack, a sleeper in her cave, and one crazy cleaner, she is proud to have been a member of league of filipino students-sfsu and is happy to be a part of diwang pinay once again! currently a board member of liwanag kultural center in daly city and member of bayan-usa's queer caucus, you will find her organizing and keeping her eyes on the prize of liberation and freedom for all oppressed peoples until her bones turn to dust. known for her really emo poems (either super dang angry or super dang serious), she doesn't perform often, so you better pay attention! (haha). kristen loves her mga kasama from lfs, babae, and all other bayan-usa and gabriela-usa orgs to the fullest and is so grateful to be a part of such beauty--through the struggle, through the hard times, "through the fire, to the limit / through the fire, through whatever" ("through the fire" by chaka khan, holla!)--she owes oh-so-much to the movement that pushes her to grow and to the ride-or-die homeys that help her up when she stumbles. makibaka, yall. huwag matakot. Aiza Bonus Aiza Bonus graduated from the University of San Francisco majoring in Media Studies with minors in Film Studies, Music, and Philippines Studies. Aiza was born in Pampanga, Philippines and moved to California when she was five years old. Her goal is to go back to her homeland and create a documentary to open people’s eyes about the issues that are going on in the Philippines. Her film, History in the Making, features Pinay Artists in the bay area who are creating art to spread the message about the history and culture of Filipinos. Erica Viray-Santos Erica Viray Santos is a proud mother and kasama who lives in Union City. She has spent the past couple of years doing work with Anakbayan East Bay and as a teacher within San Leandro High School’s Social Justice Academy. She has a passion for social justice, and empowering and organizing youth to work for positive social change. It is her hope that we all continue to make conscious decisions to improve our communities to allow our children to grow up in a world that truly nurtures and supports them. She would like to dedicate her performance tonight to her son, Amado Santiago Viray Santos. Evelyn Obamos She is proud to be a Filipina, born on the island of Guam and moved to Hawaii. Presently a student at the University of San Francisco, she is majoring in Media Studies and minoring in Philippine Studies and Music. Her musical passions began when she sang with her ateh in church during their childhood days. She is currently living in San Francisco studying to get her degree in Sociology. Caroline has been playing the guitar for a little less than two years. Currently living in San Francisco, she attends the University of San Francisco where she is majoring in Graphic Design. Her passions include philosophy, photography, and anything that has to do with music. She began singing at a young age, along with playing the piano. Chloe has recently picked up guitar about a year ago, and fell in love with it, becoming a small-time musician. She thanks her family and friends for always being there beside her, pushing her past her limits to become the person she is today. Parangal Dance Company Parangal means tribute. Parangal Dance Company is a Filipino Folk Dance Group base in the San Francisco Bay Area. OUR MISSION is to give tribute to our Philippine heritage by preserving and promoting our ethnic costumes, music, and dance. Founded in May 2008, our company consists of members who share the same passion and love of Philippine folk dancing.
