A click able code on a Yahoo page can mean the difference between a customer making an impulse buy or closing the page and going to a competitors Yahoo group where there is a click able link.

I have seen it discussed on some forums that more than 350,000 people will buy or receive embroidery machines each holiday season.   Many of these same people will become first time computer users also. A lot of them will buy their first computer just so they can join Yahoo groups and take advantage of buying designs from YOU: the digitizers who own these Yahoo groups as a way of reaching these customers.   They are looking to you to teach them not only how to use their machines but how to navigate the web as well.

Due to the graying of America, the number of people retiring from the work force is at a all time high. A lot of the retiring members may have worked with computers in some manner but not have actually been on the internet before.

They will not know how to work either the embroidery machine or the computer to their full potential. Copy and paste may well be beyond them. Not having a click able link on your Yahoo group is a disservice to both you and them.

Stop here and go and look at your Yahoo group home page. What does it look like? Imagine you are a first time embroidery machine user coming onto the internet and a friend has referred you to the Yahoo group you are now sitting and looking at. You are only here because the friend sent you a link in an email and walked you through how to get here over the phone and now you are on your own:

Is it attractive or is everything all jumbled together?

Are there different colors to differentiate between the different subjects?

Is there an old outdated picture of a design that you did 3 years ago, or one picture of a design? Maybe there is a picture of nothing at all related to your embroidery business?

Where is the link to email you with a question?

Where is the link to your web site? Oh, I see but it says copy and paste this link into your browser window - HUH what does that mean?

Now look at the groups here and see the difference. These groups are getting visits to their web sites, the probability of a sale, and most likely a bookmark for future sales with every new visitor to their Yahoo group:

Though my business is mainly composing and publishing ads to Yahoo groups for Machine Embroidery Digitizers and Clip Artists, I also promote in other venues on Yahoo.  It is a fun and sometimes challenging job. The best part about it is that I meet a lot of awesome people around the world and learn a lot about cultures. I have made many friends just doing my job.

A little about me:

My name is Ila and I live in Southern Maine.  I spent my working time as a member of the Law Enforcement world, living the dream I had wanted to do since I was 5.  Rheumatoid Arthritis ended that dream in 1995 and I needed to find something else to do to support myself and my daughter.

I love machine embroidery and own a Janome 300E embroidery machine and a Brother PE 150 machine. I also have an Elna Quilters Dream Sewing Machine which is just about the closest to perfect sewing machine as I could have dreamed of having. I love to make quilts and other things for the local domestic violence shelter.

I own 4 Yahoo groups of my own all dedicated to embroidery which you are welcome to join if you also enjoy embroidery.  The first group below is largely for hand work,  the other 3 are for machine embroidery.
