'In the constitution on sacred liturgy of the Second Vatican Council ("Sacrosanctum Concilium"), it is emphasized that the "combination of sacred music and words … forms a necessary or integral part of the solemn liturgy" (No. 112).
This means that music and song are more than an embellishment of worship; they are themselves part of the liturgical action.'
(Pope Benedict XVI, Papal Address at Basilica in Regensburg, 13 September, 2006

'The music ministry does not exist for its members, rather it exists to lead and support the assembly's song. The hymn of praise is our way of life.'

Prayer for Cantors and Choirs

"Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem... a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks." (John 4: 21, 23)

Lord Jesus, our high priest and ever-pleasing victim before the Father's throne, anoint us afresh with your Holy Spirit; may he increase in us gifts of piety, knowledge, wisdom and understanding; increase our faith, strengthen our hope and kindle our love, that we may be worshipers in spirit and truth - the kind of worshipper the Father is looking for.
Amen.

Our Parish Prayer

O Lord Jesus, bind us together
in love and peace,
through the power of your spirit living in us.

Unite us in faith and love
to you and to each other,
in a deeper bond as your family.

Help us to use all the graces and gifts,
talents and abilities that you have given
to us, in order to build your body.

O Father, guide us as we grow together,
so that we your children,
may reach maturity in the body
of Christ Jesus, Your Son.

Amen.
