It is estimated Sephiroth was born around 30 years before the start of the FF7 story to Professor Hojo and Lucrecia of Shinra. Hojo had been a large part of the "Jenova Project" at sephy's birth. He and Lucreacia apparently volunteered their unborn child for experimentation with the cells of a humanoid/alien called Jenova and Sephiroth was then injected with Jenova cells pre-birth.

To the right here is a popular poster of Sephiroth... one unfortunate thing about these types of posters is the money rarely goes to the actual makers of Final Fantasy 7. A lot of people, however, are dissapointed by Squenix's lack of interest in remaking FF7. Some people hope they don't remake the game and ruin it... while others just want to play the game again. We'd rather they make a whole new adventure... something not related to the whole winding down of Jenova's wrath - a whole new adventure with Cloud... and maybe Sephiroth once again.
