Final Fantasy

is a media franchise based off of several videos games started by Hironobu Sakaguchi, but currently owned by Square [Enix]. The legacy of Final Fantasy now includes motion pictures, merchandise, and more along with the video game series. The original console RPG was developed by Square, spawning a series that became the central focus of the franchise and probably the biggest series for Square. Most FF games and movies have independent, unrelated stories, although they often have common elements throughout. These include characters such as Moogles, transportation such as airships, etc.

Final Fantasy has set many standards and features now widely used in console and PC role playing games. FF is especially known for it's innovation, with stories and gameplay, and it's amazing graphics and visual tracks. These include, for example, the full motion videos that helped launch Final Fantasy 7 to be such a great success for the PlayStation I.
