Students have been presenting their food projects. They have tasted great and we look forward to eating more of them. We have learned many new vocabulary words, listened to and sang songs, discussed different culture and we have enjoyed the adventure.
Please have your child tell you what they learned in class today and you can help by asking them what certain things mean. We are continuing our vocabulary with more adjectives, basic verb forms, and simple sentences along with comprehensive reading.
We will be starting emotions and sports. We will then be reviewing for the final exam. Your child must continue to study the words that we have learned. The vocabulary is written in their notebooks as well as a download under Assignments.
I have added vocabulary pages for our next unit. It is on the assignments page under "study guide" for you to print.

Please ask your child to show you something that they have learned every day. Repetition and practice are great! We will continue to work on our pronuciation every day.

We have started our birthday celebrations for students who have had summer birthdays. They have been to the birthday box and will be receiving a card from me that allows them one opportunity to change a homework grade (ex: If they receive a C, they can move it up to B). This is a one time use card and I have already explained to them to use it wisely.
We have a birthday box in our classroom. When it is someone's birthday he or she will have the opportunity to pick something from the box. Our class has an urgent need for fun and funky $1 items (they can be found at Target or Dollar Store) for our birthday box. Any help would be appreciated.

THIS YEAR, UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED, HELP SESSIONS WILL BE BY PARENT/STUDENT REQUEST OR TEACHER RECOMMENDATION. THERE IS A WONDERFUL POOL OF 7th AND 8th GRADERS THAT WILL BE PAIRED WITH YOUR CHILD TO ASSIST YOUR CHILD IN AREAS HE OR SHE MIGHT BE STRUGGLING IN. RESEARCH HAS FOUND THAT PEER TUTORING, ALONG WITH TEACHER INVOLVEMENT, INCREASES UNDERSTANDING.
