All-District Band

Who: 

Consists of 6^th – 8^th grade band students in NC Central District Bandmasters Association (Alamance, Asheboro City, Caswell, Chatham, Chapel Hill/Carrboro City, Durham, Granville, Guilford, Orange, Person, Randolph, Rockingham, Vance, and Wake School Systems plus any private, religious-affiliated, or home-school schools).

Requirements:

I.                    Scales

a.       All Major Scales plus Chromatic Scale

b.      Play Major scales tongued and slurred; play Chromatic scale slurred

c.       All scales on your scale sheet are required

II.                  Solo

a.       See Mr. Walton for solo

III.                Sight Reading

a.       10-20 measure sight reading example with 30 seconds of preview time before playing

b.      We work on Sight Reading daily in class

Auditions:

I.                    Saturday, January 7 (Snow Date:  January 14)

a.       East Cary Middle School in Cary, NC

b.      Parents must provide transportation to and from event

c.       Auditions are from 9:00am – 6:00pm

d.      STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE AN EXACT AUDITION TIME ONE WEEK PRIOR TO AUDITION DAY.  Students will be required to arrive approximately one hour before the audition time to check in and warm up and may then leave as soon as their audition is complete.  For example, a student may be asked to arrive at 10:00am, audition between 11:00am and 12:00pm, and then be able to leave by 12:00pm. 

Cost: 

I.                    $8.00 audition fee; The NC Central District Bandmasters Association is not state funded

a.       Payment deadline is Friday, December 2^nd

b.      Please pay in cash – SE Band Boosters will mail a check to the district

Notification of Making the Group:  Audition is on Saturday, results are provided on Monday

All-District Band Clinic:

I.                    $15.00 Fee for participation, The NC Central District Bandmasters Association is not state funded

a.       Payment deadline is Tuesday, January 17^th

b.      Please pay in cash – SE Band Boosters will mail a check to the district

II.                  Friday, February 3 – Saturday, February 4

a.       Rehearse at Eastern Guilford High School

b.      Rehearse 9:00am – 6:00pm with a one hour off-campus lunch break on Friday

c.       Rehearse 9:00am – Noon on Saturday

d.      Transportation to be determined

III.                Concert on Saturday, February 4

a.       Concert at 3:00pm

b.      Report time at 2:30pm,

                                                                                                   i.      Boys wear black pants, white shirt with tie

                                                                                                 ii.      Girls wear all black or black pants, white shirt

All-State Honor’s Band:

I.                    Students who finish within a certain range at the top of their section in All-District become All-State eligible.  If this occurs, students and parents will be notified immediately.
