All-County Band

                Who:  Consists of 6^th – 8^th grade band students in Guilford County Schools.

               

Requirements:

I.                    Scales

a.       Concert B^b, E^b, A^b, and F Major Scales plus Chromatic Scale

b.      Play Major scales tongued and slurred; play Chromatic scale slurred

c.       Required scales are starred (*) on your scale sheet

II.                  Solo

a.       See Mr. Walton for solo

III.                Sight Reading

a.       8-16 measure sight reading example with 30 seconds of preview time before playing

b.      We work on Sight Reading daily in class

 

Auditions:

I.                    Tuesday, February 7 (Snow Date: February 14)

a.       Hairston Middle School

b.      Bus transportation provided to Hairston; PARENTS MUST PICK UP STUDENTS FROM HAIRSTON

c.       Auditions are from 4:00 – 7:30; students will receive an exact time closer to date

 

Cost:  Free, GCS provides financial support

 

Notification of Making the Group:  Audition is on Tuesday, results provided within 1 – 3 school days

 

All-County Band Clinic:

I.                    Monday, April 2 – Tuesday, April 3

a.       Rehearse at Grimsley High School

b.      Rehearse 9:00am – 2:30pm, lunch on campus in Grimsley cafeteria

c.       Transportation to be determined

II.                  Concert on Tuesday, April 3

a.       Concert at 7:00pm

b.      Report time at 6:30pm,

                                                                                                   i.      Boys wear black pants, white shirt with tie

                                                                                                 ii.      Girls wear all black or black pants, white shirt
