*A note on Group-work

The participants at the workshop will be divided into six groups. They will be expected, with the guidance of a mentor, to come up with a 10 minute presentation on a research proposal based on Slumdog Millionaire with analysis from some theoretical/ multidisciplinary perspective. The proposal/ presentation should have:

  • A topic, which the presenter will have to justify and explain;
  • A thesis statement (in 1-3 sentences);
  • A list of objectives;
  • Possible chapter outlines.

There will be discussion on and evaluation of the proposals.

**A note on paper presentation

A Call for Papers has already been sent out and three of the best papers will be presented by their authors. These papers are intended to serve as models of well-written papers for the participants and will be published by the Department of English as part of a Monograph on, “The Proceedings of the One-Day Workshop on Research Methodology in Literature in English”.

Pre-workshop requirements

  • The major requirement of the participants is that they should have watched the movie Slumdog Millionaire at least once in the week before the workshop. They will have to participate in the group project of formulating a research proposal for the movie.
  • It would be good if the participants are also aware of the basics of current critical theories.
  • Other minor requirements will be informed to the participants after their registration.
