Marriage failure is brought about by a set of dysfunctional thinking patterns either in one or both parties. Song of Solomon 2:16 My Beloved is mine, and I am His; 6:3 I am my Beloved's, and my Beloved is mine; 7:10 I am my Beloved's, and His desire is toward me. (MKJV) When we read these three Scriptures we see a transition of revelation of from a singular human ownership (2:16). The next a revelation is giving one’s self to the other for mutual ownership (6:3). Finally we see a revelation that we belong to another and in this case, it is we who belong to loving and caring God (7:10). The final revelation was and is the correct perspective right from the beginning. In Song of Solomon 7:10 we should not interpret this as ownership like when we own a car, but one of protection and provision of what is needed for a life of love. The reverse of Song of Solomon 7:10 is, “My desire is towards my partner making sure he or she knows the surety of my love, because he or she has surrendered to me in love”. In this book we will look at how we can surrender to God’s plan and have fulfilment in marriage.
