“Dynamics of
Evangelism:” by Ian Traill M.Th Foreword by George Rolley, (Pastor).
As one looks at the word “dynamic” it will be noted that it speaks of power. The word is from the New Testament Greek word (dynamis), which is translated, as ‘power’ or ‘energy’; it denotes acts of power or the ability of a person In the New Testament (dynamis) is in constant reference to the power of God. It is from this ‘common’ Greek word we derive our English equivalents of “dynamo”, “dynamite”, “dynamic”, and so on. The English dictionary meaning for ‘dynamic’ is, “characterized by force of personality, ambition and energy; of, or concerned with energy of forces that produce motion.” Pastor Traill has written this study volume with simplicity, showing forth the power, personality, ambition and energy of evangelism: As readers progress through each chapter they will be drawn into the energy of the force which produces the motion, as well as the motive for Evangelism, whether it is within the local church, local community, city or nation, or if it be in a foreign land: The character of Evangelism is the personality of Jesus Christ our Lord. He supplies the ambition and the energy which causes souls to come to Him (Act 4: 12). In understanding the “Dynamics of Evangelism” one must first know the original “Evangelist”, The Lord Jesus Christ, He went from city to city, country to country, preaching, presenting salvation and the Kingdom of God wherever He went; He taught the way and the reason; He went both to the masses and to the individuals. He spoke only of what He saw and heard from the Father, (John 5:16-23). “…Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do, for whatever He does, the Son does in a like manner.”…” This is the main thrust of “Let’s Go Fishing.” Pastor Traill emphasizes the need of the person desiring to evangelize, to be close to the Lord and Saviour and to know the Word of the Lord. Paul said in Philippians 3: 10; “…That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead…” Anyone desiring to be a servant of the Lord must be, as is recommended in this study guide, close to God the Father, the Saviour Jesus Christ, and motivated by the Holy Spirit. Pastor Traill is to be commended for this work he has carried out for the Kingdom of God, for allowing the Holy Spirit to inspire him. I commend “Let’s Go Fishing.” to any person desiring to spread the Word through evangelism: As Christ said to His disciples, “Come I will make you fishers of men.” Therefore I say to you now, “Let’s Go Fishing.” George Rolley, (Pastor).
