Welcome to the dedicated website for the Selby Community Project.
Selby’s brand new hospital and civic centre has been made possible through an innovative partnership between the NHS and Selby District Council. NHS services have transferred to the New Selby War Memorial Hospital and patients and staff are now benefiting from the new state-of-the-art facilities. The new hospital building will be offering a range of local health services, including 24 in-patient beds for intermediate care and rehabilitation, a minor injuries unit, enhanced outpatient services, improved diagnostics services such as digital imaging and ultrasound, children’s outpatient services and a range of mental health care. Selby District Council moved to the site at the beginning of August 2011. The Selby Community Project has now entered its final construction phase. This includes the demolition of the existing hospital site, the construction of a new car park and landscaping work around the site. The new car park will be fully open in December 2011.
On this website you can find out what benefits the joint development is bringing for people living in the area, patients using the hospital and staff. You can also see the progression of the project in images, right from the start with the artists impressions to an aerial view from earlier this year. This website gives you a chance to ask questions too, and find out what other people have been asking.
