SEECK HISTORY Seeck Inc. was formed in the Spring of 2009 when five UC Berkeley engineering undergrads realized the enormous commercial and societal value of their final simulation project. What formed in the constraints of a class project blossomed into a powerful, customizable, easy-to-use disaster relief simulation software that stunned their professor and the academic community. Quickly realizing the broad and impressive potential of their work, Seeck Inc. was born. Seeck Inc. is currently based around a discrete-event simulation software that models the damage and after-effects of a typical Bay Area earthquake. With detailed modeling yet surprising efficiency, we can help make informed decisions on a variety of levels. The inspiration: This is an introductory 3-unit course in computer simulation modeling. The primary objective is to introduce students to modern techniques for modeling discrete event systems with interactive graphical simulation software and enable them to create a generic simulator product. Students will also: -learn the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches, giving them a foundation for selecting methodologies and software that are appropriate for different classes of engineering problems. -learn how to model random processes and experiment with simulated systems. -become familiar with the fundamental similarities and differences among simulation software packages. -be introduced to the different technologies used to develop simulation models and simulator products. -learn to communicate their ideas and solutions effectively in a team product development environment. | PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT TEAM Seeck Inc.'s project development team combines a unique mix of engineers, computer scientists and operations specialist with over 100 years of combined experience: Erez Cohen, Industrial, Software Engineer Erez Cohen is a 3rd year IEORs tudent specializing in financial engineering. He has extensive management and organizational experience especially with developing and executing large-scale events. He has programming experience working jointly with Kimberley in developing a JAVA robot at the Mobile Industrial Robotics Laboratory. As a Team Coordinator, Erez will work to combine his skills to allow the team to work effectively. Evan Rash, Modeling and Communications Specialist Evan is an Operations Research Senior with a minor in Mathematics. Evan has a strong mathematical and analytical background that is supplemented by experience with various computer languages, including C++, Java, and HTML. With an extensive background in teaching and presentation, Evan will assist in the communication needs of the product development team. As a well rounded team member, Evan hopes to compliment the individual strengths and experiences of his fellow IEOR team members in the conceptualization, development, and implementation phases of the product design. Chun Ching Hsia, Operations Specialist Chun Ching, or Clarence, is an IEOR Senior graduating this December with an avid interest in supply chains and production and manufacturing systems. He is currently working full time as a Process Engineer Co-op at the Supply Chain Planning Team for the NUMMI plant in Fremont, a joint operation between Toyota and GM. Clarence contributes professional advice and experiences in the technical aspects of production systems. Kimberly Needham, Operations Specialist Kimberly Needham is a 3rd year IEOR student pursuing her Masters degree in Industrial Engineering with a focus on Supply Chain Management. By managing a house of sixty people this semester, she is strengthening her management and communication skills. She also has programming experience at the Mobile Industrial Robotics Laboratory, working jointly with Erez on programming a JAVA robot. With her programming and team management and communication experiences, Kimberley hopes to effectively integrate the SEECK product development team. Saumil Shah, Operations Specialist Saumil is a 3rd year IEOR student specializing in operations and supply chain. He is certified in Engineering and Innovation Management by the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology and also has experience on the operations team at Qualcomm. His interests are website optimization, wireless technology, and technical marketing. Saumil will provide the product development team with technical insights into operations and production processes. |
