- How to add a link to some text.
- Write some text, for example Department of Neighborhoods
- Highlight the text Department of Neighbothoods
- Click on the Link button in the toolbar directly above the body of the WWW page and put in the URL.
- How to upload a document, and link to it.
1. At the bottom of each WWW page there is an "attachments' section. At the bottom of that section it says "Attach a file" followed by a "Choose a file" button. Click on the button. Upload the file. 2. Follow the directions on adding a link to some text: Write some text "here's the file"; highlight that text; click on the "link" button at the top of the WWW page; type in the name of the file into the search box; and select that file. - Style tip: Keep the page title short ("Webpage How-to-dos") as the title will also appear in the sidebar.
- How to set the WWW page background color (sidebar and contents portions).
- Go to "more actions" > "manage site" > "Colors and Fonts", and select the option setting the colors (maybe "custom color").
- I put in the outer color from the Mountaineers home page (provided by Rich Barringer). Alternatively you analyze whatever image you are using on the home page for its colors (http://mkweb.bcgsc.ca/color_summarizer) and used one of the colors from the analysis for the background.
- Examples of fancier Google Sites WWW pages
- Survey Monkey WWW page (can use for surveying how people liked a class or activity. Seattle Tilth sent me one after I volunteered at their plant sale.)
