Welcome to my latest project- an online resource for those interested in creativity and innovation. My last project (still ongoing) was learning how to design good web pages... then I discovered googlepages and here we are. Note that although the title words don't exist , we still understand their meaning perfectly. Creativity as a subject touches upon many things we take for granted- such as our ability to understand things incomprehensible to computers for example- and things we are unaware of, but which have a dramatic effect on everything we say, do and believe, and of course our perceptions of the world, assumptions, beliefs...
It is a remarkable subject and one I will be a student of for many years to come. I am not an expert! It is such a huge field that to become expert in it would take many years- a recent article in Harvard Business Review asserts that it takes 10 years to achieve expert status... I do not entirely agree with this viewpoint, however I have learned much in my years of study and want to share this freely with others who have an interest in this area.
Because creativity is a function, if you will, of the brain, there will be sections on our peripheral interface equipment (to use a computer analogy) our CPU, memory, firewall and operating system to name but a few. Analogies and metaphors are not only a powerful method of communicating ideas, but can also be a method to generate new ideas and solutions! I will also examine our evolution which determines the makeup of our "wetware", the cultural and historical influences, the various theories which deal in this area, tool, techniques and methods which we can use in our personal lives and business, and link to useful "tests" to allow each visitor to gain insights into the "bent of their nature"... and much more besides!
