About me, Sean McHenry

I have been in the field of television and video production for 30 years now beginning in the early 1980s with NBC as a studio Engineer at WCMH-TV Channel 4 in Columbus, Ohio.  After 16 years with the NBC Owned and Operated broadcaster and filling virtually every behind the camera technical position from tape room to Technical Director for all major news shows, I gave up direct involvement with broadcasting and moved a notch further behind the cameras by moving to SOS Productions as their Engineer.  Due to an economic adjustment in the production field in Ohio 3 years later, I took a position with Industrial Video, a broadcast equipment sales company located in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio.  While at Industrial Video I took a few weeks vacation time and paid for my own Avid classes to become a certified Avid video editor.

After several interesting years with IVC, I was recruited back to Post Production Engineering by the largest Post House in Ohio, Mills James Productions.  While at Mills James, I found a new love, that of film as an art form and medium of expression.  I then began an intense period of writing down every short film and movie idea I had ever had early in my career and started shooting those ideas on video.  Later I received a Super 8 film camera as a Christmas gift and found I really liked this idea of shooting on old fashioned film gear.  The idea became a passion for the medium and I have been expressing myself in regular 8mm, Super 8 and 16mm ever since.

I have become friends with organizations like the Columbus Film Commission and The Greater Columbus Arts Council where I recently gave a talk about the state of film as an art form in Ohio.  The latest good news is that my short 16mm film "One Pill" won second place in the Columbus international Film and Video Awards (aka the Chris Awards) for 2009.  I was a juror in the humanities category for the Chris Awards for 2008 and have been involved in teaching with the Fairfield Career Centers as an adviser on their multimedia curriculum for many years.  I was recently part of a team competing in the first ever 48 Hour Film Project in Columbus, Ohio.  I have had screenings of several short films on the online channel of MTV Italy, have been screened at festivals in Strasbourg, France and Seattle, Washington as well as local theaters in the Look at my Shorts and Cow Town film festivals, have won various online awards for my short film and video subjects and am a published short subject screen writer.

Principal photography is now wrapped on the web series Aidan 5.  The initial episode can be seem on their website at http://www.Aidan5.com.  I have been involved in the web series since the initial 48 Hour Film Project returned from winning the Columbus 48 Hour Film Project, coming in second runner up in the world at the Miami International Film Festival and then a debut by invitation at Cannes.  I have been a Camera Operator, Jib Operator and Fill in DP for the series.

Due to the economic down turn we are all familiar with, I am now available to add my skill set to yours in the areas of video and film production.
