10/19/09 - The Bergen CC Men's Basketball team, who captured their first Region 19 title in school history last season, announced their 2009-10 schedule today.
The schedule features some of the toughest junior college teams in the metropolitan area. The Bulldogs will open their season on the road and face Region 15 opponent Queensborough CC on Tuesday, November 10th.
Bergen's home schedule be begin vs. Bronx CC on Thursday, November 12th. Bergen will open their tough Region 19 schedule with a home tilt vs. Middlesex CC on Tuesday, November 24th.
The Bulldogs finished last season with a 20-16 record and reached the Final Four at the NJCAA National Tournament at SUNY-Delhi where they finished 3rd in the country.
The team returns four starters including Elgin Brown (6'5 Forward, Dickinson) and Jayvon Beaty (6'8 Forward, St. Anthony's) who both who received All-Conference recognition last season. Guards Jimmy Schmitt (6'2 Guard, Elmwood Park) and Derrick Ross (6'2 Guard, West Side) provide the Bulldogs with experience in the backcourt.
