Instructor/Student Conferences and Generation 1.5 College Composition Students

This study focuses on the participation of Spanish-speaking students in instructor-student conferences in two English 110 classes at California State University – Bakersfield. Peer-Mentor Program Model

This presentation presents a model of a student peer-mentor program. Peer-mentoring raises student motivation, while lowering attrition, by facilitating a student-centered classroom emphasizing collaborative activities with task-based projects that are mentor-led. Participants will receive handouts of a peer-mentor program adaptable to their individual programs and/or classes.

The WRITE Institute: Summary Writing for Long-term English Learners (Workshop)

Participants will experience interactive demonstrations of strategies designed to help struggling writers summarize and analyze complex texts.
