I was born in Italy in 1980 and I have obtained a PhD in Information Engineering, and a MSc degree in Computer Engineering (EE) from the University of Siena in 2008, and 2004, respectively.

Since September 2011 I have been with the Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories, where I am the Team Leader for Optimization-based Control and a Senior Principal Member of the Research Staff in the Mechatronics group. My research focuses on advanced control systems for application to robotics, factory automation, space systems, and automotive components.

From April 2008 to September 2011, I was with the Powertrain Control R&A, Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, MI, where I investigated advanced control strategies for powertrain, vehicle dynamics, energy management and supply chain.

From 2004 to 2008 I was with the COHES Group (Control and Optimization of Hybrid and Embedded Systems) at Information Engineering Department, Universitá di Siena, Italy, working with Prof. A. Bemporad.

I was visiting student at Technical University of Denmark on AY 2002/2003.

I was visiting graduate student/researcher at the Control and Dynamical Systems department of the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA, under the supervision of Prof. R.M. Murray, where I have also worked on Caltech's entry in the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge.

I have been participating in the European project Control and Computation (CC) in the European Network of Excellence HYCON and in the PRINs (italian national interest research projects) Models for optimization, control and coordination of distributed production systems and Analysis and Control of Hybrid Systems PRIN.
