Binges, Blackouts and Bailouts DVD
The DVD is centred in Selby and features real case studies within the district. Its main use will be as the centrepiece of presentations in schools and in connection with young people. Its approach will be to highlight areas where drinking by young people has a negative effect:
The aim of the DVD is to both interact with the audience, and point out the consequences of alcohol on them and their contemporaries. One of the main aims is to offer them practical advice, including appropriate points of contact for further help. The aim is to take the five areas bullet pointed above, and provide a case study for each of them. The stories are told in a documentary style – with a high degree of realism. The case studies have been specifically chosen to resonate with young people in the district. The DVD was launched with the assistance of television personality Rav Wilding at Selby Town Hall on Wednesday 15th July 2009.

The starting point for each story is the moment that is either the end point of an individual’s story or a significant moment in their demise. Through stylised reconstruction and honest, personal interview, the stories are spun backwards from that very moment and then worked through their story. Ending with normal everyday young people, the intention is to strike home the message that anyone of them can be the victim of alcohol abuse.
