This site is dedicated in keeping People inform and up to date about People with Disabilities (visible and invisible)  and Service Dogs / Animals through our newsletters and articles. 

 

How PwD_SD News all came about!  It was a long, winey road with lots of up's and down's with some bumps along the way. It seems that this road keeps going and going with no sight of ending!  lol .

 

Where does one start? I guess I should start at the beginning stage as one would do when teaching a puppy under the philosophy of the A. B. C. Teachings. Sorry just couldn't help myself! <g>.

 

It all started on March of 2007, with a little email group "Owner Trained Guides". The focus of this particular group, was about creating a book that's been long over due, for teaching individuals on how to teach their guide animals using Operant Conditioning with Positive Re-Enforcement.

 

Five months later (Aug 2007), a friend started Animals Speak to fulfill the need for some place to educate about animals ... both Wildlife, Pets and all information concerning them. A day or two later she asked me to join/co-own in which a special section for Service Animals was created into the mix.

 

Needless to say after about a year, due to Animals Speak bursting at it's seams, with all the foods, species, and pet articles, the Service Animal Section was getting crowded and lost. It's still there just a small portion then before. <g>. Thus we  needed to branch off and have our own  special forum.  

 

Therefore on Sept 2008 People with Disabilities & SD Awareness Forum was born. No more myths about what is or isn't!  No more trying to find a needle in the hay sack as it were. There are plenty of worthwhile information, a place for support, share experiences, just chat or ask questions.  It's a place where one may discuss any type of disabilities both visible and invisible (eg. Autism, Blind, Mobility, Learning Disability), as well as service animals and all information concerning them.

 

Like this site, it's also Jaws (ie. text to speech program) Friendly too. Just have to give the pages time to load.  Both PwD SD Awareness and Animals Speak continues working together as sister forums.

 

Nevertheless we still needed to have a place to hold all our newsletters and various articles, henceforth PwD_SD News came about (Dec. 2008)
